A suspected thug was shot dead on Thika Road after allegedly robbing a woman of her bag and phone His body with two bullet wounds was discovered inside a thicket in the Jomoko area off the busy highway Thika Sub-county police commander Lawrence Muchangi said his team rushed to the scene after being notified of gunshots.

They suggested the man was shot by state law enforcers. "They were two on a bodaboda and had robbed a woman before fleeing. But as they ran away, the government (sic) was around and started shooting at them," said Francis Njuguna, the area Nyumba Kumi chairman.

Thika Sub-county police commander Lawrence Muchangi confirmed the incident. He said his officers rushed to the scene after being notified of a shoutout by the residents in the area. He, however, denied his juniors being behind the shooting. "We got reports that someone had been shot. We arrived and found the body. We are yet to know who shot the man because none of my officers was on duty in this area. But the residents informed us two people trailed the man after he snatched a woman's bag," said Muchangi.
